Supporting Life-Savers Specialist Fire Safety Training for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland
At Fire Safety Training NI, we take real pride in supporting the organisations that provide vital services to our community. Recently, our lead consultant, David Gillespie, spent the day at the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland (AANI) airbase. He was there to deliver a high-level refresher training course for their HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) Pilots and Technical Crew Members.

Training for a Very Specific Environment
Training an aviation crew requires a much higher level of detail than a standard office fire drill. We tailored the session specifically to the unique environment of the airbase and the HEMS aircraft. During the day, we focused on several key areas:
Aircraft Fire and Smoke Scenarios Preparing the crew for high-pressure emergency responses.
Onboard Firefighting Equipment Making sure everyone has mastered the specific tools carried on the helicopter.
Evacuation Procedures Polishing crew coordination to ensure everyone stays safe during an incident.
Practical Fire Extinguisher Training A hands-on refresher to build muscle memory for when seconds truly count.
